Display Excerpts

The excerpt is a summary or description of a post, WordPress includes an excerpt form field which you can use while creating or editing posts. Usually people forget to set this value, so Single Latest Posts allows you to create an extract from the content of the post.

There are some optional parameters: excerpt_length and excerpt_trail the first one sets the number of words the excerpt should display and the second receives two values, text or image, text is used by default, it adds “…more” to the end of the excerpt’s paragraph. When image is used, it will display the excerpt_trail.png image located inside the plugin’s core/img folder.

Shortcodes:

[slposts excerpt_length=55] // Limits excerpt length to 55 words
[slposts auto_excerpt=true
         excerpt_length=40
] // Create excerpt from post content limited to 40 words
[slposts excerpt_trail=image] // Set image as a "read more" link

how can I just display the entire posts throughout the page

    • http://laelite.info/ L’Elite

Hello Cavin, first of all thank you for your purchase. In order to display full posts’ content just set the parameter display_content=true (if using shortcodes), if using widgets go to Post Settings > Display Full Content > Yes. That should do the trick. If you need more information please do not hesitate to ask.

      Best regards,

I am using shortcodes to put it on my home page. I have [slposts title_only=false display_content=true post_status=publish] and am seeing this:

No content and the post titles are jumbled together on the top line

        • http://laelite.info/ L’Elite

Hi Cavin, could you please tell me which version of Single Latest Posts are you using?

          • http://www.cavinelizabethphotography.com Cavin Urquhart

            1.7

          • http://laelite.info/ L’Elite

Ok so it seems that’s not the issue. I’m going to contact you by email now.

          • http://laelite.info/ L’Elite

So to close this topic here if anyone else is having the same issue. Finally the shortcode used was this: [slposts title_only=false display_content=true instance=homepage wrapper_list_css="post article"], the result is shown in the attached image.

wrapper_list_css is a parameter used to set CSS classes for a Single Latest Posts instance, which becomes specially useful if a WordPress theme includes custom styling for Single Latest Posts default classes which are: “nav nav-tabs nav-stacked”. When CSS styles are reset, it may break posts and make some part of the content disappear.

    • http://laelite.info/ L’Elite

Hello Stéphanie, your shortcode is just missing one parameter: title_only=false.

  • Stéphanie

    It’s ok now !
but while my thumbnail is 150X150 ??
    In my shorcode is 200×110
    Thanks
    bye

Hi Stéphanie, thumbnails are cropped, not resized. It means your thumbnails must be bigger than 200×110 in order for Single Latest Posts to display the correct size. There is a plugin called AJAX Thumbnail Rebuild which allows you to create bigger thumbnails: https://wordpress.org/plugins/ajax-thumbnail-rebuild/ Once you have resized your thumbnails, then your shortcode will be good to go.
